Meet Dr. Houman
Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Houman Farzin, applies his expertise in psychedelic medicine to lead the integration of ketamine therapy into psychiatric treatment plans.
Dr. Farzin’s patient-centered and non-judgemental approach ensures the highest standard of care, providing a transformative experience for those navigating treatment-resistant conditions.

Director of Clinical Strategy
Dr. Nick Schiavoni, M.D. is a board-certified anesthesiologist and the Director of Clinical Strategy at Mystic Health. He completed his residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in acute pain management at the University of Colorado and now specializes in ketamine-assisted therapy with innovative approaches to psychedelic medicine. Dr. Schiavoni is dedicated to advancing evidence-based, whole-person care while shaping cutting-edge treatment protocols.

& Palliative Care Physician
Dr. Thais is an integrative medicine and palliative care internist committed to holistic healing. With training in Brazil and at UCLA, she blends internal medicine, acupuncture, mindfulness, and psychedelic care to promote balance and comfort. Dr. Salles Araujo focuses on traditional Chinese medicine, nature, and meaning-centered care to support patients and their loved ones through life’s most challenging experiences.

& Psycho-oncologist
Dr. Mona Mojtahedzadeh, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist and consultation-liaison specialist, humanitarian, and educator, dedicated to whole-person care in oncology and beyond. With a medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University and psychiatry training at Texas Tech and Loma Linda, she further specialized at USC in psycho-oncology, reproductive psychiatry, palliative medicine, and HIV psychiatry.

Matt is a psychotherapist specializing in insight and transformational change through Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. A 2017 graduate of CIIS’s Psychedelic Therapy program, he trained with Field Trip Health and co-founded the Los Angeles Community Ketamine Clinic. Formerly the Director of Psychedelic Music Therapy at the Chacruna Institute, Matt focuses on the use of music to enhance therapeutic psychedelic experiences.

Lisa specializes in trauma, anxiety, stress, illness, grief, and caregiver support. Trained in Hakomi Somatic, attachment, and transpersonal psychotherapy, she is a death doula and mindfulness teacher for over 15 years. A graduate of Spirit Rock’s Advanced Practitioner’s Program, she teaches MBSR and Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness. Lisa is certified in KAP through Polaris and CIIS’s Psychedelic Therapy Program.

Haleh specializes in trauma, mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, and generational trauma. With over 20 years in private practice, she integrates collaborative research experience from UCLA and Planned Parenthood to provide compassionate care to individuals and families. Haleh is bilingual in Farsi and English, offering support to diverse communities.

Kabir brings seven years of experience in mental health operations and communications, specializing in building systems that elevate care. At My Ketamine Home (former COO) & Nue Life Health (former Chief of Staff), he worked with a team that supported 10,000 patients and facilitated 90,000+ treatments. Now at Mystic Health, Kabir collaborates with clinicians to redefine holistic mental health and palliative care through innovative, personalized treatments, fostering transformative healing for patients and families.

Gizem graduated from Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. Her thesis project was dedicated to exploring how a physical space can help create mental agency. In light of that, she designed a non-denominational sanctuary for spiritual refuge which aims to educate people on the power of the mind and the impact it has on the quality of our lives. Gizem has worked closely with several prestigious New York based designers in the industry such as Carlos Mota, Muriel Brandolini, & Poonam Khanna (The Unionworks Architecture & Design). She has a passion for our cause and aspires to elevate our patients’ experience wherever possible.

Grace is a graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder with a B.A. in Speech, Language, and Hearing Science, cum laude. Before joining Mystic Health, she gained valuable experience as a Medical Assistant in urgent care. Grace brings compassion and dedication to her work, striving to provide exceptional care to patients and their families. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time at the beach, golfing, and practicing yoga.

Previously, he founded Flipagram (now TikTok), Shopzilla, and BizRate.com, pioneering advancements in e-commerce and short-form video. Farhad serves on the boards of Burning Man and Farhang Foundation and holds an MBA from Wharton and a B.S. from UCLA.

Dr. John Horton is an adult psychiatrist and palliative care physician at UCLA Health and Clinical Instructor at UCLA’s David Geffen School of Medicine. He supports patients and families at the UCLA Simms-Mann Center for Integrative Oncology and serves on the Inpatient Palliative Care Service. His work focuses on easing distress around life-threatening illnesses and advancing the thoughtful integration of psychedelics in palliative care.
Farhad Mohit is a serial entrepreneurial founder with over a billion dollars of exits, including Fliapgram (now TikTok), Shopzilla and BizRate, pioneering advancements in e-commerce and short-form video.
He is currently founder and full-time volunteer at GoodParty.org, empowering independent candidates with AI tools and a platform to can run win and serve. He also founded Gifted Savings, a non-profit focused on direct gifting of investment assets and financial education to young people.
Farhad is a TED catalyst and serves on the boards of Burning Man and Farhang Foundation. He holds an MBA from Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a a double B.S. in Math and Economics from UCLA.
Dr. John Horton is an adult psychiatrist and palliative care physician at UCLA Health and Clinical Instructor of Medicine and Psychiatry at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where he completed his medical training. He serves as a psychiatrist for patients and their family members at the UCLA Simms-Mann Center for Integrative Oncology and is a supervising physician on the Inpatient Palliative Care Service at both UCLA Ronald Reagan Medical Center and UCLA Santa Monica Hospital. His practice and clinical interests are centered on easing the distress that emerges around life threatening illnesses, scaling behavioral health support for families facing complex illness and grief, and learning from and teaching the next generation of clinicians. Hopeful for a future with more tools to support patients and their families, he is motivated to support the rigorous and thoughtful growing intersection of psychedelics and palliative care.
